The TOP 12-Outlet Drip Manifold with 2.2 GPH per Outlet from DIG is designed for first time installations or for retrofitting an existing sprinkler riser into an efficient 12-outlet drip irrigation system. The TOP concept utilizes unique self-cleaning, pressure compensating drip emitters enabling long runs with even water distribution from all outlets. The TOP 12-outlet manifold is available with 1/2” FNPT thread and can be used with 1/8” or with 1/4” micro tubing using a converter barb.
The Drip Store’s retrofit systems can be used to convert an existing sprinkler head to a drip system without altering the flow or other capabilities of the original design. The retrofit drip heads are available in 12 outlets, and can be used with individual plants or groups of plants as part of any irrigation system.
Retrofit drip heads or manifolds are designed to adapt any 1/2" riser to a drip irrigation system. They may be incorporated into a new system, or used to convert an existing sprinkler to a 12- outlet drip system. Retrofitting conventional sprinkler systems to low flow water saving drip systems requires a few simple steps that include evaluation of the areas to be watered and selection of the best method to water. The most suitable uses for retrofit drip systems are for shrubs, trees, roses, or individual plants that can be irrigated more efficiently using this system.
Emitter conditions during Self flushing mode:
The TOP concept consists of self-cleaning pressure compensating emitters. Their ability to compensate for pressure fluctuations between 8-80 PSI is achieved through the utilization of a silicone diaphragm and the water passage design. The self flushing function works between 0-8 PSI, and is achieved as follows:
At 0-3 PSI the flow is relatively high and the emitter is in flushing mode while the diaphragm is completely open. As the pressure increases between 3-8 PSI, the diaphragm slowly begins to close. Flow is still high, but steadily decreasing. The diaphragm is closed between 8-80 PSI, and the flow is constant. Opening and closing the system will bring the TOP to a flushing mode.
Materials:
• Body and cover: high impact plastic
• Filter: nylon
• Diaphragm: silicon
Retrofitting conventional sprinkler systems to a low flow, water saving drip irrigation system requires a few simple steps:
Step 1: Evaluate the areas to be watered. While large areas such as lawns are best watered by sprinklers, other areas, such as shrubs, trees, roses, or individual plants, can be irrigated more efficiently by using the retrofit drip heads.
Step 2: Remove the sprinkler head from the riser.
Step 3: Turn the water on and flush the line. Then screw the 12-outlet drip head onto the riser.
Step 4: Extend 1/8” micro tubing from the drip head to the plants.
Step 5: Secure the 1/4" micro tubing with a stake inserted into the ground near the plant.
