The Drip Stores' 12” spacing 1/4” black drip line from DIG Corp is available in 1000’ and with a flow rate of .52 GPH @15 PSI and .65 GPH @25 PSI. Use the micro drip line with 1/4” barb fittings for green roofs, patios, containers, narrow planting, large pots and boxes.
The Drip Stores’ Micro line Drip Line from DIG Corp is extruded tubing with self-contained, drip emitters molded into the inside wall of the micro tubing in preset spacing. Both the tubing and the drip emitters are manufactured from the finest quality resins using a process to form a product that emits water uniformly from each emitter, year after year.
The micro-line drip line with drip emitters is extruded micro tubing with flow labyrinth in-line emitters molded into the inside wall of the micro tubing. The inline drip emitter is built with a large filter along the cross section of the drip emitter to ensure that moving particles on the bottom of the micro tubing from entering the labyrinth water path, ensuring trouble free operation and long life. For commercial, agricultural and residential applications use the micro drip line with our 1/4” barb fittings. The micro drip line can be installed below or above the ground and if used above the ground can be covered with mulch to blend it with the landscape. Our 1/4” micro drip line can be used for installation in planters, boxes, vegetable garden, patios and green roofs, our micro line can also be used with gravity feed system for home gardens.
Root Zone: One of the most important aspects of drip irrigation is the fact that, in many instances, a totally new and more favorable root zone is created and a relatively constant soil moisture level can be maintained.
Choosing the proper drip irrigation method based on soil type:
When using drip irrigation it is important to select the correct application rate and spacing in order to achieve the right soaked pattern shape. In sandy soil, water tends to drain quickly (gravitational force) with little lateral movement, so applying a higher flow rate over a given time period will produce a wider pattern. Using point source irrigation with .5 GPH drip emitters for one hour will provide a smaller soaked area then using 1 GPH for the same time, due to the soil characteristics.

Some knowledge about drip irrigation systems can give a well-informed contractor or installer an advantage in a very competitive market. Many installations could benefit from the addition of drip irrigation, such as in strip planting, boxes, planters, sloped areas, windy areas, oddly shaped areas and green roofs. Contractors or installers with expertise in micro irrigation can select the appropriate installation method and products for applications such as overlap irrigation on strip planting using micro drip line with pre-inserted drip emitters (in a variety of spacing and low flow rates), strip planting using a below grade drip system , containers and boxes using micro drip line with 6” to 9” spacing, a conventional irrigation method of PVC pipe with risers using multi outlet drip emitters or, for oddly shaped flowerbeds or closely spaced plantings, using micro sprayers in a variety of flow rates and diameters. Each of these options provides the contractor with the tools and the flexibility to offer his customers installation packages that include a blend of options which set him apart from his competitors.
Suggestions for below grade installation:
Designed for use on small areas, such as containers, narrow plantings, green roofs, or oddly shaped layouts, the small diameter Micro-Line presents installation flexibility for many applications.
If automation is used and you will be running both drip and sprinkler zones, the controller should be selected with care. The ideal controller should have an independent program for each valve, or two to four programs for flexibility to use with each zone. Standard electric remote control valves model C0XX, or 3/4" (model C041) to 2” (model C044) battery operated controllers can be used in the installation, however, care should be taken to review the flow characteristics of the zone that the valve or controller will be accommodating.
If use below grade, where it is feasible excavates the area to the depth recommended for the layout of the Micro Line drip line, or trench a ditch 2" to 4" deep for placing the micro Line, starting 2" to 4" from a curb.
The Micro Line drip line should be first laid out in the field and secured into the ground using 1/4" plastic stakes before connecting the drip line to the manifold.
If the system is installed below grade, an air vacuum relief valve is required. The air relief valve has been designed to allow air into a subsurface drip line after water is shut off to prevent clogging of below grade drip irrigation systems due to dirt suction under vacuum conditions. It also prevents infiltration of toxic substances into the drip system and allows the release of air from the system when the water is turned on. Install an air vacuum relief valve at the highest point of each zone
Flushing: Prior to testing leave the end of the main line and the 1/4" drip laterals open.
Partially back-filled the system leaving all joints and connections exposed. Then flush the system of all debris. Close the end line and all laterals.
Pressure test the system with a minimum of 25 PSI prior to back-filling the drip line to identify leaks in the drip line, fittings and the drip zone.
