Drip irrigation is one of the most efficient methods of irrigation today. Sometimes referred to as micro irrigation, low-flow irrigation, or trickle irrigation, drip irrigation is the slow and precise delivery of water directly to the plant roots. By delivering the water directly to the base of the plants, optimum moisture level in the soil is retained at all times, combining the proper balance of water and air for better plant growth. Retrofit drip irrigation systems are designed to incorporate or convert any 1/2" riser or existing sprinkler head to a 1, 4, 6, or 12- outlet drip system without disturbing the flow of the other sprinklers on the line. Retrofit drip irrigation is controlled either manually or by using an automatic timer. The retrofit drip system can be used to water group of plants, trees, hanging baskets, and more with pinpoint efficiency.
The Drip Store’s retrofit systems can be used to convert an existing sprinkler head to a drip system without altering the flow or other capabilities of the original design. The retrofit drip heads manifolds are available in 4, 6 or 12 outlets, and they can be used with individual plants, groups of plants, or as part of any irrigation system. Some of The Drip Store’s range of accessories to retrofit a sprinkler system include 1/2" FPT adapter with 1/4" outlet used for pots or hanging baskets and 1/2" FPT by 3/4" MHT adapter to convert 1/2" risers to start a new drip system.
