The K005 Adjustable Micro Sprayer Irrigation Kit from Hendrickson Bros. contains a 9 outlet pressure regulating manifold, 100’ of high quality 1/4” green micro tubing and all the parts needed to complete a micro irrigation system from a garden hose. The watering components include 11 pre-assembled adjustable micro sprayers with x at 360-degree, x at 180-degree and x at 90-degree. In addition the irrigation kit includes a garden hose mounting stake and all the parts used to install a micro sprayer irrigation system capable of watering a garden planted with roses, shrubs, groundcover, flowerbeds and trees.

The model K005 Adjustable Micro Sprayer Irrigation Kit is a complete kit that has all the parts needed to install a micro sprayer system from a garden hose.

The 9 outlet pressure regulating manifold can be installed on any 1/2" riser and easily converts traditional spray systems to micro spray systems. Separate pressure regulation is not necessary since each 9 outlet manifold automatically reduces the inlet pressure. The kit is especially useful in a confined area where mixed plant materials are present.

Installation for K005

 

Starting the system from a faucet:

  • Optional: If you wish to automate the system, first connect a battery-operated timer to the faucet (suggested model C001 - not included in this kit).
  1. Connect the 3/4" FHT x MHT backflow device to the controller or to the faucet if not used with a controller (model A015).
  2. Connect the garden hose into the backflow device and lay out the garden hose to the garden area.
  3. Connect the 1/2" MPT x FHT garden stake into the 3/4" MPT of the garden hose.

 

Steps to connect all others irrigation components:

  1. Turn the water on and flush the line and connect the 1/2" FPT 9 outlet pressure regulating manifoldto the garden stake.
  2. Run the 1/4" micro tubing from the 9 outlet manifold to the plant areas and connect the adjustable micro sprayer (see detail below).
  3. Use the 1/4" barbed tee to expand one outlet to use multiple sprayers.

Micro sprayers have small droplets and a low flow application rate. Micro sprayer irrigation can prevent plant stress by maintaining low water tension in the soil using a low flow application rate. Use the micro sprayers to water groundcover, flowerbeds, or areas where drippers are not practical, such hillsides, or when low volume, overhead irrigation is desired. Like the drippers, the micro sprayers operate at low pressure but have a larger range of flow rates and diameters.

  1. Install the micro sprayers (model MSA002 and MSA003) every 4-6’ using the 180, or 90 degree patterns.
    1. Connect the micro tubing into the manifold outlet, then lay out the micro tubing to the plant area, insert the 1/4" micro tubing into the 1/4" barb on the micro tubing/stake assembly. Place the stake assembly 4-6” above the ground.
    2. Install the adjustable micro sprayers every 4-6’ or one per group of plants

How much time to water:  Turn the water onfor 30 minutes to 45 minutes every two days, depending on your location and the soil type.  After a week or two check the soil and the health of the plants, and adjust the irrigation time as needed.  If you have an irrigation controller and you need to add more time, adjust the time on the controller or program the controller with additional start-times.
