The Model K007, Vegetable Garden Drip Irrigation Kit for up to 15 rows, each 30’ long is The Drip Store's custom-designed drip tape kit that includes all the parts needed for installing a drip irrigation system on up to 15 rows of vegetables. The kit contains 500' of 15-mil drip tape with drip emitters every 12". The emitters have flow rates of .35 GPH @ 10 PSI, and .6 GPH @ 25 PSI.
See Added Parts to expand your system by purchasing additional pieces separately.
The kit also has a 50' of high quality 1/2" drip tubing with .600" ID x .700" OD, sufficient to start a vegetable garden on a lot 40' wide by 30' long. The drip tape kit includes all the fittings and accessories needed to install 15 rows of drip irrigation in a vegetable garden, starting from a hose faucet (spigot). This drip irrigation kit can be used to water all types of vegetable plants with 8” to 12” spacing. The kit can accommodate a flow rate of up to 260 GPH (5 GPM), using the 500’ of 15-mil drip tape.
When designing a drip irrigation system using drip tape please be aware that drip tape work at very low pressure of 12 to 25 PSI. Make sure to install a 15, 20 or 25-PSI pressure regulator to each zone.
Suggestion in installing a drip tape system, first identify the number of similar irrigation zones needed. Irrigation zones are based on factors such as type of crop, total flow available in a given time (see drip tape flow rate and spacing), available pressure at the zone, available pressure for periodic flushing, topography layout, field length and soil texture. Once the zones are assigned and the drip system is designed, a schedule of irrigation must be set up to meet the unique needs of the crop in each zone. A properly designed and installed drip system will provide better uniformity for many years and can improve crop production
Recommendation: To install the drip tape fittings, turn the sleeve on the fitting counter-clockwise, insert and push the drip tape over the barb, and secure by turning the sleeve clockwise to go over the drip tape, ensuring a quality watertight connection.
The most important practice for a healthy and productive vegetable garden is the use of an appropriate irrigation system. During years of normal rainfall, rains usually wet the soil and provide a good supply of deep soil moisture. What happens later will depend upon the efficiency of your irrigation system. Adequate soil moisture is important for seed germination, uniform growth, and productivity. Correct use of a drip irrigation system should keep vegetable plants actively growing in dry periods yet cause no problem when rain occurs following irrigation. The system, when properly operated, keeps soil at the base of the plant (root zone area) moist. This may require operating the system for short periods two to four times a week during dry weather in order to prevent the soil from ever becoming completely dry.
One of the most important features of a drip irrigation system is the creation of a totally new and more favorable root zone environment within the planting. Drip irrigation sustains this environment by using low flow rates to maintain constant soil moisture levels. This encourages better growth and disease resistance by reducing plant stress.
Advantages and Benefits
•Water Efficiency:
By applying water only where and when it is needed, with less runoff and less evaporation from leaves and soil, the uniform application of water from drip irrigation systems can achieve high water savings.
•Ease of Installation:
The system can be installed without special tools or glue, and with limited knowledge, making the installation a very simple process.
•Reduced Pest Problems and Weed Growth:
Watering only the roots of your plants with drip irrigation cuts down on water-borne pests and fungal diseases that spread by water movement, as well as the germination of weeds in the areas between your plants.
Note: The pressure regulator (included) is used to lower the incoming pressure to the suggested operating pressure of 25 PSI, which is within the range of recommended pressures for a drip system.
Suggestion in connecting the 1/2" compression drip fittings. To install the 1/2" compression fittings, cut the drip tubing with a hand pruner, being careful to keep dirt from entering the line. Hold the compression fitting in one hand and the drip tubing in the other and force the drip tubing into the fitting by wiggling it from side to side. Make sure that the drip tubing is pushed into the compression fitting for about 1/2 to 5/8 of an inch for a very tight fit. No glue or clamps are required.
This drip tape kit has all the parts needed to start the system connecting to a faucet. The Drip Store also includes instructions on how to start the system from a PVC pipe or a pipe thread.

Optional: Starting the irrigation system from a PVC pipe:
Steps to connect all others components:
To install the drip tape fittings, turn the sleeve on the fitting counter-clockwise, insert and push the drip tape over the barb, and secure by turning the sleeve clockwise to go over the drip tape, ensuring a quality watertight connection.
See installation instructions for details.
How much time to water: Turn the water onfor 45 minutes to 1 hour every two days, depending on your location and the soil type. After a week or two check the soil and the health of the plants, and adjust the irrigation time as needed. If you have an irrigation controller and you need to add more time, adjust the time on the controller or program the controller with additional start-times.
