The K029 Micro Sprayer Irrigation Kit is The Drip Store’s custom designed kit for germination, seedlings and irrigation of greenhouse and nursery benches. The kit contains a digital battery-operated controller, 200’ of high quality 1/2" drip hose with .600” ID x .700” OD and all the parts needed to install a micro sprayer system for up to five benches 20’ long by 4’ wide or for spacing of 4x4’ for full coverage.

The watering components in this irrigation kit include 25 9-gallon per hour (GPH) 360 degree micro sprayer assemblies with 24” micro tubing, leak proof shutoff device and barb. The spray head should be installed in inverted position every 4’ and 3-4’ above the benches.

The irrigation kit contains everything you need to install a micro sprayer system from the controller to the end of the line. Included in this kit are a 3/4" filter, 3/4" pressure regulator and all the fittings and accessories needed to install the system.

Installation for K029

 

This irrigation kit has all the parts needed to start the system connecting to a faucet.  The Drip Store also includes instructions on how to start the system from a PVC pipe or a pipe thread.

Starting the system from a faucet:

  1. Connect the battery operated controller (model C001) to the faucet.
  2. Connect the 3/4" FHT x MHT backflow device (model A015)to the controller.
  3. Connect the 3/4" FHT x MHT filter (model F300) to the backflow device if used, or directly to the controller’s male outlet.
  4. Connect the 3/4" FHT x MHT pressure regulator (model A013) to the filter.

Optional: Starting the system from a PVC pipe:

  1. Glue to a 3/4" PVC pipe a PVC female adapter (model P357) (not included).
  2. Use the 3/4" MHT x MPT nipple (model A010) to connect to the pipe thread making sure to use 3-5 rounds of Teflon tape.
  3. Connect the 3/4" FHT X MHT battery-operated controller (model C001) to the nipple.
  4. Connect the 3/4" FHT x MHT backflow device (model A015) to the controller or to the faucet.
  5. Connect the 3/4" FHT x MHT filter (model F300) to the backflow device, if used, or directly to thecontroller male outlet or faucet.
  6. Connect the 3/4" 25 PSI FHT x MHT pressure regulator (model A013) to the filter.

Steps to connect all other components:

Note: In this installation the main laterals have to be installed 3-4’ above the benches and the micro sprayers installed into the lateral in inverted position.

  1. To the 3/4" FHT x MHT pressure regulator connect the 3/4" FHT swivel adapter (model LF503).
  2. To the 3/4" swivel adapter connect the 200’ of 1/2" drip tubing with .600 ID x .700 OD (model T060) and run the drip tubing into the greenhouse or nursery. Raise the drip tubing 5-6’ above and perpendicularto the benches.
  3. Near the center of each bench cut the drip tubing and connect a 1/2" tee (model LF005). Use one tee for each row and for the last row use the 1/2" elbow (model LF007). To the tee or elbow connect the 1/2" drip tubing and lay it along the center of each bench at a height of 5-6’ above the benches.
  4. Turn the water on and flush the line, and then close the end of the 1/2" drip tubing using hose end (model A006).
  5. Use 1/2" coupling .700 O.D. (model LF001) to connect additional 1/2" drip tubing, or for repair.
  6. On each lateral install the first micro sprayer 3’ from the 1/2" tee and then install all other micro sprayers every 5’. To install the micro sprayer assembly,  punch a hole in the 1/2" drip tubing using the punch (model A019) and insert the barbed end of the micro sprayer assembly (model GD409-24) into the drip tubing. Use the holepunch to create a hole in the lateraldrip tubing by pushing and twisting the punch into the hose. The hole punch has been specially designed to quickly create a clean hole that contracts within moments tocreate a leak-proof seal around the inserted barb.
  7. Use plugs (if needed) (model SF007) to repair small holes in the 1/2" drip tubing.

How much time to water:  Turn the water on for 5 to 8 minutes four times per day and check the system. If you need less or more water adjust the time on the irrigation controller. The goal is that all the benches regardless of size will drain at the same time. Program the irrigation controller for about 2 to 4 minutes less than the time it took you to test the system and the benches to drain. Run the system every one or two days, depending on your location and the soil type. After a week or two check the pots, soil, the health of the plants, and adjust the watering time, as needed.
