The model D023 flag drip emitter with 4 GPH is a spiral flow pattern drip emitter that can be twisted to open and clean. The flag drip emitter flow rate will depend on the incoming inlet pressure to the emitter with the nominal flow rated suggested is at a pressure of 15 PSI. The flag drip emitter work well in small systems with short runs, and on flat terrain. We recommend installing a 15, 19 or 25 PSI pressure regulator on systems using this drip emitter.

  • The model D021 with 1 GPH, model D022 with 2 GPH and model D023 with 4 GPH are spiral flow online drip emitters. The flag drip emitters have a screw type water flow pattern that provides a consistent flow rate over a pressure range of 15 PSI. The flag drip emitters have a two-piece construction with a “J” locking mechanism that can be twisted and pulled apart for easy cleaning. The flag drip emitters, available in 1, 2, and 4 GPH, have a 1/4" self-taping barb inlet for easy installation. The 1/4" barb inlet can be easily attached into the poly tubing or 1/4" micro-tubing. The barb outlet side of the drip emitter can be extended to a plant area using 1/8” or 1/4" micro tubing. Each flag online drip emitter will discharge its rated flow rate at a constant pressure of around 15 PSI. The higher the pressure, the more flow the drip emitter will release, and at lower pressure, less flow will be released. We recommend installing a filter with 155-mesh and a 15 to 25 PSI pressure regulator at the beginning of the line when using these drip emitters.

     

    Drip irrigation is the slow application of water directly to the plants' root zone in a predetermined pattern. By preserving an optimum moisture level in the soil at all times, drip irrigation results in less water lost to the sun and the wind and less water wasted on non-growth areas. The resulting proper balance of water and air leads to very efficient irrigation.

     

    One of the most important features of a drip irrigation system is the creation of a totally new and more favorable root zone environment within the planting. Drip irrigation sustains this environment by using low flow rates to maintain constant soil moisture levels. This encourages better growth and disease resistance by reducing plant stress.

     

    When using drip emitters it is important to select the correct flow rate in order to achieve the right soaked pattern shape. In sandy soil, water tends to drain quickly (gravitational force) with little lateral movement, so applying a higher flow rate over a given time period will produce a wider pattern. Using point source irrigation with .5 GPH drip emitters for one hour will provide a smaller soaked area then using 1 GPH for the same time, due to the soil characteristics.
