Evaporative cooling is an easy, inexpensive way to reduce outdoor temperatures. By filling an area with a fine mist, temperatures can be reduced by as much as 20 degrees, with the most cooling action taking place in areas with very low humidity. Low-pressure misting systems like the ones we sell work on all the same principles as a normal drip irrigation system: they are inexpensive, easy to set up, require very few tools (and only one specialized one: the hole punch tool), and can connect to a garden hose or spigot.
We do not suggest using a misting system in humid environments, so folks in Hawai'i, Florida, and the South should consider other options for outdoor cooling. These misting systems are a slam dunk for anyone living in the desert, though!
Misters, also called "foggers", are generally used for cooling and humidity control. Using them in short cycles and avoiding pointing them at walls or other items will help keep the water from collecting on surfaces and dripping.
Unlike misting system based on metal, these misters work best at 30-50 psi and utilize plastic tubing and parts. For this reason, they are much easier to work with and much less expensive than higher-pressure metal misting systems.
