A manual barbed ball valve like the A047 has many uses and is an inexpensive and effective way to manually control your drip system.
A ball valve can be placed after an automatic valve as an emergency shutoff in case the automatic valve fails. By placing one at the end of a line instead of a more traditional line end (like the A147) you can let the system pressurize while making it as simple as possible to open the system for flushing or expand the system by adding additional tubing to the open end of the ball valve. Lastly, a ball valve can be used to isolate part of a system. This can allow you to have your system service something that needs water far less frequently than the rest of your garden, like a large tree, without having to run a separate system dedicated to it.
