We here at The Drip Store want your shopping experience to be as simple and stress-free as possible. In the past, we’ve reached out individually to anyone whose order we can’t fulfill due to being short on one or more items.
This often led to customers being annoyed that they weren’t told about shortages before they paid for them. Nobody wants to deal with that! We’re happy to report that we have implemented a new inventory tracking system that will make that frustrating experience a thing of the past.
Here's how it works:
1. The vast majority of products on The Drip Store now display our available inventory so you can see exactly how many we have in stock. This number is shown on the category page and on the individual product page. It updates automatically as people buy products, and is updated with new stock whenever we receive shipments from our suppliers.
2. Need to buy more than we have in stock? No problem! Add however many you need to your cart, and the website will alert you to how many of that item will be backordered. This notice will be displayed on the product page, in the mini-cart, and in almost every step of the checkout process. Since inventory counts and backorders are freely visible on the website, we won’t reach out to let you know about backorders anymore.
3. Orders with backordered product will be held while we wait for the missing product to arrive. Sometimes that product is already on its way, and other times it needs to be ordered from the manufacturer. Most of our suppliers can get product to us in two weeks or less.
4. Once backordered product arrives, we ship out orders on a first-come, first-served basis. Whoever placed their order first will have their order shipped out first.
5. By default, we will ship your order complete. We can split your order into multiple shipments if you want, but you’ll need to contact us to let us know. Be aware that additional shipments aren’t free, so we’ll need to charge you for any extra shipments. Orders that qualify for free shipping get one shipment free, so you’d only pay for shipments beyond the first.
As cool as this new system is, there are a couple caveats due to the limitations of our e-commerce platform:
1. Since you’re allowed to purchase quantities beyond what we have available, our system doesn’t allow us to put an out-of-stock notice on the category page for items that we have 0 stock of. You will still get a notice on the individual product page or when you add any quantity of the product to your cart, but we can’t show a big red OUT OF STOCK on the category page. Instead, they show without a quantity.
2. We don’t keep assembled products - like drip kits, head assemblies, and some multi-part fittings - in stock. Instead, we keep all of the components in stock and build the assembled products as orders come in. This gives us maximum flexibility to use our inventory, but it also means that our system doesn’t see any available stock for assembled products. Products like these won’t show an available quantity on the category or product page, but that doesn’t mean they’re out of stock! You won’t get a notice about them being out of stock when you add them to your cart. If we are short on any component of an assembled product, we will reach out to you to let you know right away.
Use this rule of thumb: if an item is out of stock, the website will alert you when you add the item to your cart. If you don’t get the alert, then the item is in stock!
We hope that having our available stock visible to you as you shop will help you make the most informed shopping decisions possible. It will also mean a much lower chance of being bamboozled by an item unexpectedly being out of stock.
