"Retrofitting" is the practice of taking an existing irrigation system and altering it to perform a different function. The most common retrofit practice is removing sprinkler heads from a 1/2" sprinkler riser and converting those risers to a drip system. Sprinkler riser adapters are the first step in that process, as they convert the 1/2" MPT end of a sprinkler riser into a usable starting point for a drip irrigation system.
